Finding the right hypnotherapist for you

Maybe you’ve decided that hypnotherapy is for you, or you’re just curious and would like to try it out. Now you need to find the right therapist for you.

For therapy to be effective it usually helps to build a therapeutic collaboration with your therapist, so it makes sense to find someone who you can feel comfortable with.

So, here’s...

...a bit about me

Dan Stanbury - Clinical Hypnotherapist Advanced Practitioner, DHP, DCH, GQHP, Chairman (Assoc. Institute Clinical Hypnosis)

I’m director of Growth Hypnosis and a fully qualified clinical hypnotherapist trained at the acclaimed ICH (Institute of Clinical Hypnosis) in London, and ever since I’ve been evolving my strategic approach. Recently this has culminated in a new therapeutic strategy I’m calling Conditioning Reset Therapy (click here for more details) to which I attribute my relatively high success rate and positive client feedback.

Before that, I worked for many years in advertising and marketing, so I’m no stranger to the challenges and stresses of city life. However, after years of never feeling quite satisfied, I made the decision to take a different path, to do something more worthwhile.

I chose hypnotherapy for a few reasons. For many years I’d suffered from chronic anxiety and depression myself. Having tried almost everything, hypnotherapy helped me to overcome my issues and build confidence. And as I did so, my interest in the process grew. Long before I started training or considered hypnotherapy as a career, I naturally found myself practicing what I’d experienced with friends and family, sometimes for fun but also occasionally dealing with real and serious issues. This I found very rewarding. Eventually my wife suggested I practice professionally and I haven’t looked back since.

Why me?

Well, whatever you want to work with, the chances are I’ll have some relevant personal experience which will give me better understanding and insight in order to help you.

Most importantly I know what it’s like when you’ve tried everything and feel like nothing’s going to work. So I have a standing promise to all my clients – I am 100% committed to helping you find the right solution for you.

A unique approach

The truth is everyone has a unique approach. We all bring part of ourselves, our experiences, our beliefs and interests into our practice which makes it unique. My own perspective comes from a life long search in pursuit of understanding how the mind works. This has taught me to keep an open mind. The more you learn the more you realise there's still so much more to learn. There are so many different paths and from my experience none are perfect yet many have merit. There is no single right way, or absolute truth. We're human and we can't help holding opinions and beliefs. Indeed we can't function without them. However, if one is able to hold beliefs without attachment, with the understanding that it's just an opinion, that it's not right, then it gives you the flexibility to navigate the complexity of life, finding ways that work for you and for the people you help. This mindset has given me the freedom to absorb many different approaches, from eastern philosophy to western psychology, while continuously evolving, updating and improving my treatment model. This defines not only my approach to therapy but to a mindset that I seek to impart to my clients which I hope will serve them as well as it serves me. I don’t want just to give my clients a bandage to fix a particular problem at a particular time. I want to leave them with a new adaptive mindset that empowers them to deal with all of their problems all of the time. This is the philosophy that drives Growth Hypnosis.
